3/12/2023 0 Comments Catalog mp3 with jaikoz![]() ![]() If they all had the same ISRC, you wouldn't be able to track royalties for each version independently. Let's say you sold a song in 3 versions, MP3, 16bit-44.1, and 24 bit-96k through various distribution channels. Hey Holger, I know that's what they say, but I STRONGLY disagree with this. A complete re-master (usually restoration jobs) will count as a significant change but small adjustments don't warrant a new ISRC. The rule of thumb is that only major changes require a change of ISRC. In fact, any fade in or out less than 10 seconds doesn't officially count as a significant change, and the same ISRC should be used. In terms of compilations or new album constellations, only if the MP3 is changed significantly should you assign a new ISRC. įor all intents and purposes an MP3 version is identical and should use the same ISRC used on the Red Book CD. Ī single ISRC is used for each unchanged recording regardless of the format in which it is released. Ī separate ISRC must be assigned to every different track of a recording where there has been new creative or artistic input, but not to an unchanged track when it is reused on a new album of recordings. Neither does ISRC identify a digitally distributed package, although sound and music video recordings included in such a package should be identified with an ISRC. It is stressed that ISRC identifies sound recordings and music video recordings and not physical products (‘carriers’) and that there is no conflict with existing product catalogue numbering systems with which it co-exists. While it's the same song, it still requires a different catalog listing since its content form is fundamentally different. Make the ISRC unique for each delivery method, if that method stores the data differently.
